  • Sound trucks this year, more than in any previous year, will be in great demand for political rallies and general ballyhoo work. This type of work demands the use of equipment which will provide the highest quality of reproduction. Audiences gathered at street corners to listen to a candidate will want to be able to hear perfectly —if they can't they will simply move on to the next one where they will be able to understand every word. Equipment for this purpose must therefore be powerful and be capable of high fidelity reproduction.

    Exceptionally high gain, sufficient for use with velocity and sound cell microphones, is one of the outstanding features of this new Lafayette model 274A amplifier. Now, at last, you can use these excellent high fidelity microphones with a system operated entirely by the 6-volt car battery without resorting to a separate preamplifier. Thus by using this amplifier together with a high fidelity microphone, and high fidelity speakers, the finest tone quality possible can be had.

    Other unusual features include: a completely housed and sound-proofed gene-motor, noiseless low-level electronic mixing, continuously variable tone control, a master and stand-by switches (to prevent undue current drain while the equipment is not in actual use, yet keeping the tubes heated for immediate operation), variable output impedances providing taps at .35/.6/1.35/2/4/6/8/15/50/250/500 ohms, and a frequency response essentially flat from 50 to 10,000 cycles within 2 db.

    Another valuable feature is the ease of conversion from 6 volts d.c. to 10 volts 60 cycle a.c. operation by means of a simple, easily connected, power pack.
