  • The Lafayette Wide-Range Superhet Tuner for extreme selectivity and sensitivity. It incorporates many modern features that make it particularly well suited for all P.A. work. The tube complement, comprising seven tubes, includes five of the latest all-metal types. Tubes are used at follows: 1-6K7 as a stage of r.f. amplification on all bands; 1-6K7 as first detector; 1-6K7 as if amplifier; 1-6H6 as diode second detector and a.v.c. tube; I-6C5 as audio amplifier; 1-80 rectifier and 1-6E5 cathode-ray tuning indicator tube. The power supply is built in. The tuning range covers from 16.4 to 560 meters in three overlapping bands as follows: from 16.4 to 52.2 msters (5.75-18.3 mc.); from 51.8 to 175 meters (1.715-5.8 mc.); from 173 to 560 meters (535-1730 kc.). Thus, American and foreign amateurs, police calls, and the standard American broadcasts can be received. Wide-range reception is made possible by means of a special high-fidelity control that varies the i.f, band width. When the band width is broadened, the higher frequencies are passed. Sensitivity on the 173-560 meter band is rated at 0.5 microvolt absolute; on the 51.8- 175 meter band 1.0 microvolt absolute; on the 16.4-52.2 meter band 2.0 microvolts absolute. Selectivity rated 28-kc. broad at 1000 times signal (sharp). Other features include: manual volume control, cathode-ray eye tuning, efficient band change switch, full-vision iluminated airplane dial and rigid steel bracket mounting. Output impedances 500 and 50,000 ohms. Can be used with any amplifier having a gain of 50 db or more.
