  • Two‑stage low‑frequency audio amplifier designated Type A.2 and intended as an accessory for sets such as the Marconiphone V.2. This version is supplied for the D.E.5 valve combination and uses two Marconiphone “Ideal” inter‑valve transformers with ratios of 2.7:1 and 4:1. A three‑position switch selects the valve combination or off, and a second three‑position switch provides volume control. The amplifier is battery operated, requiring a 6‑volt accumulator for filament supply, a 9‑volt grid‑bias battery, and a high‑tension unit consisting of three 42‑volt batteries. Provides additional audio gain for headphones or external loudspeakers when used with early Marconiphone receivers.
