  • Anotaciones
  • The Marconi AD108 is a compact, nine‑valve HF/MF superheterodyne aircraft receiver engineered for high sensitivity, stability, and reliable operation under demanding aeronautical conditions.

Designed for reception of CW, MCW, and RT signals, it covers either 2–18.5 MHz (HF) and 260–510 kHz (MF) or an alternative 2–9.1 MHz (HF) and 150–510 kHz (MF) configuration.

    Circuit Architecture

    • Selective RF stage providing strong image‑frequency rejection
    • Temperature‑compensated first heterodyne oscillator to minimise drift under varying ambient conditions
    • Suppressor‑grid injection mixing, reducing oscillator pulling at high frequencies
    • Two IF amplifier stages with bandwidth determined by the system switch; a crystal filter is introduced in the narrow‑band position for 1 kHz selectivity at 6 dB
    • Front‑panel BFO control adjustable ±5 kHz for CW/MCW reception

    Audio & Output

    • Output stage matched to 33 Ω, delivering 225 mW undistorted audio with negative feedback to stabilise performance across one to three headsets.

    Power System

    • Powered via a rubber‑suspended rotary transformer from the aircraft’s 28 V DC supply, generating 250 V HT and regulated 19 V filament voltage.

    Controls & Remote Operation

    • All operating controls are front‑panel mounted, with full duplication (except BFO) on a remote controller.
    • Remote tuning uses a flexible mechanical drive, while other functions are motor‑driven using Type 1263 ratchet motors with thermal overload protection and interference suppression components.
