  • Notes
  • This is a rugged instrument designed for general purpose field use by telecommunications technicians in the Australian Post Office and military services. The meter has a basic internal resistance on voltage ranges of 1000 Ohms/V and the stated accuracy is better than 1.5% on DC voltage and 2% on AC voltage. A single range switch covers AC and DC voltages to 1000V and AC current from 1mA to 10A. The front panel includes a separate probe socket to allow measuring the internal resistance of single 1.5V cells which were used as local battery microphone supplies on magneto telephone services in country regions and miltary field telephones. The internal batteries consist of a single AA 1.5v cell for Ohms x1, x10 and x100 ranges and a 15V battery (Eveready 411) for the Ohms x1000 range. The moving coil movement has a sensitivity of 400uA fsd and is rubber mounted to withstand shock in excess of 40G @ 120 vibrations/minute while at the same time being shielded against external magnetic fields in excess of 50 Oersteds.
