The Meccano Aerial Set (ASI) was marketed by Meccano Ltd. as a companion accessory for its crystal radio receivers. It provided all necessary components for constructing a simple outdoor aerial and earth connection suitable for reception within approximately 25 miles of a broadcasting station.
The kit included insulated wire, porcelain supports, lead‑in cable, and earth clamp, supplied in a boxed set using standard Meccano packaging. It was intended for use with the Meccano Crystal Receiving Sets and could be assembled by the user following Meccano’s illustrated instructions.
The ASI was promoted in Meccano Magazine and the Meccano Radio Supplement as enabling “any intelligent boy” to complete a fully operational wireless installation.
