  • Notes
  • The Memorex 962 portable AM/FM radio appears to be identical to the Lifelong 962.

A label on the back has "Date Code 04 05 M", which suggests April of 2005 or May of 2004.

The radio uses a CD7613P AM/FM IC, with a pair of S9018 rf transistors forming the AM/FM front end, with all inductors and IF transformers external to the IC. The IC directly drives a pair of 2 inch, 8 Ohm, PM speakers (wired in parallel). A pair of potentiometers control the volume and "tone".

Operates from either 110 VAC or 4 C-cell batteries in series. The 110 VAC power cord connects directly to the step-down transformer. Therefore, the power transformer remains energized as long as the power cord is plugged into the mains. The switch on the volume control potentiometer only switches DC power to the circuit board.
