• There were apparently slight changes in the knob layout during 1926-1927, or possibly the advertising art did not exactly match the actual radio knob layout.  

  The 1927 Montgomery Wards Spring  catalog  shows that the unit with the built in speaker is now called the "Model A", and that the design has added a sixth tube. Three tubes and three transformers are used in the audio section. There are no rheostats to control the filaments. The case came in walnut or mahogany veneer. The 1926 catalog shows a 5 tube unit. These models all used one knob tuning. 

  There is a clip in the speaker + path. It holds a bar or a 25k resistor and is called R1.

  My view is that the 25k drops the 135v B+ when an 01a final is used,
