    The telegraph duplex device allows simultaneous transmission of two messages in opposite directions on a single wire. It uses a differential relay and artificial line to cancel out the effects of outgoing signals, enabling the reception of incoming messages without interference. This innovation doubled the capacity of existing telegraph lines

    Developed into two main categories: needle telegraphs (Cooke and Wheatstone telegraph, 1837) and armature systems (Morse system, 1838).
