  • Notes
  • Design by Eden Minns. Double conversion on SW, single on MW and LW. On shortwave signal is fed through special coils and tuning condenser into mediumwave section. Bandspread tuning. The shortwave range was selected by using a special sw-dial to the right of the mw/lw scale, fine tuning by using the mw/lw dial. SW-range 13.9-50 m. Variable selectivity in four steps, giving audio range of 8500 kc/c, 7000, 4500, 3000. AFC (Murphy: Automatic tuning correction, ATC) and noise suppression, automatically switched on in both high qualitiy positions. On high selectivity positions ATC and N/S could be switched in optionally via a switch on the back. A clutch switch on tuning condenser closing and cutting out ATC while tuning control is used. Alphabetical tuning. Cathode ray tuning indicator. Loudspeaker specially developed for this model. Build in tilted in order to direct sound towards mid-height aerea of the room. Two chassis used, power chassis at the base of the cabinet. This set is considerd to be at least one of the best build in pre-war Britain, giving best audio performance. Cabinet of Bombay rosewood, top thuya burr. Power consumption 200/220watts Price when new £35.
