    "In The Lab Report" RA-290
The Olson RA-290 is a receiver that offers excellent performance and an abundance of features. It can serve as the heart of any first-rate home entertainment system.
Its unique front panel design with its circular illuminated tuning dial and assortment of knobs, switches, and levers is stylish and easy to operate. FM tuning is aided by two meters-one for signal strength and one for center of channel adjustment plus an FM stereo indicator light. Easy set slide controls are used for volume, balance, bass and treble. Rocker type switches for loudness (low level response boost), hi-lo filters (reduces tweeter,
hiss and rumble noises), FM muting (eliminates interstation tuning noise), tape monitor and stereo/monomode.
Unusual features include: 4-way speaker selector switch that enables use of headphones, main speaker system or remote speaker system or both, tape input and output jacks front mounted for easy and convenient direct recording facilities plus stereo headphone jack.
The rear panel contains push-on speaker terminals for ease of hookup, a full compliment of standard RCA phono pin jacks for phono (mag or cer), tape, aux, and tape output, AM antenna, convenience outlet, FM and AM antenna terminals plus circuit breakers to protect
    the speaker and AC lines.
An extremely sensitive FM/AM tuner and smooth responsive distortion free amplifier can be credited to its advanced solid state circuitry. The newest technique from FET, IC's and silicon transistors are used to make up this fine receiver. Another unique feature of this unit is that it can easily be used as a compact system with the optional changer mounting board which accepts Garrard models SL-72B, SL-75B, and SL-95B. Simple plug-in hookup to jacks already installed on the inside of the unit.
