The Liniplex F1 was introduced by Phase Track Ltd. in 1983 as a compact, fixed‑frequency HF broadcast receiver for professional rebroadcast and monitoring applications. It was designed primarily for BBC World Service and other international shortwave program relays, using crystal‑controlled channels to ensure exceptional frequency stability and low phase noise.
The receiver employed double‑conversion superheterodyne circuitry and a patented synchronous demodulation system marketed as “fly‑wheel tuning.” This design maintained carrier lock during deep signal fades, producing cleaner, distortion‑free audio compared with conventional AM or SSB receivers.
Production continued until 1988, after which the improved Liniplex F2 replaced it. The Liniplex F1 was supplied with nine crystals for BBC frequencies and was housed in a sturdy cast‑aluminium case.
