  • The Philco model 642 series are farm radios based on a 32 VDC 7-tube chassis with three band coverage (BC, 1.75-5.8 MHz, and 5.7-18 MHz). The chassis has no vibrator; 32 VDC is the highest voltage used in the circuit.

    There are three models in the series with different cabinet styles: The early version (1935) of model 642B is a shouldered tombstone; the late version (1936) of 642B is simple flat-front tombstone with straight sides and rounded top corners. Model 642F (1935-36) is a floor-type console.
