  • Model 70 was available in a cathedral cabinet, a lowboy, and a highboy. The cathedral cabinet is the classic design used for models 21, 35, 46, 70, and 90, designed by Edward L. Combs. The cathedral radios are very popular and sought by collectors. Both mahogany and walnut versions were available for the model 70 cathedral cabinet. Model 70 is for 50-60 Hz power; model 70A is for 25-60 Hz power. There may have been a late version of model 70A using tubes 35 24 35 27 35 47 80. Nearly 300,000 Philco 70 radios were sold.
