  • Notes
  • This Rockin' PINK CADILLAC Eldorado 59 novelty Radio, Popworks 3-1489, was made by Popworks in Korea, date code 0790. This large radio boombox takes either 6 D batteries or an AC adaptor. It is 20 1/2 inches long and 9 1/2 inches high. There is an AM FM radio. The lights pulse to the music. The sound comes out of the taillights. It has a carrying handle that can be folded down. By the way - Wikipedia about the real car: "The Eldorado model was part of the Cadillac line from 1953 to 2002. The Cadillac Eldorado was the longest running American personal luxury car as it was the only one sold after the 1999 model year. Its main competitors included the Lincoln Mark Series and the lower-priced Buick Riviera." See also a picture from the real car Eldorado Brougham, which was sold in 1959/60. The design was 100% Cadillac but the company contracted out the assembly to Pininfarina of Italy, with whom the division has had a long-running relationship, and these Eldorados were essentially hand-built in Italy. Discreet, narrow taillights - were integrated into modest tailfins, and a squared-off rear roof line allowed the Brougham to contrast sharply to the "rocketship" taillights, flamboyant fins, and rounded roof lines of the standard 1959 Cadillacs
