  • The Realistic 33-1043 is a vintage Pro-Quality Two-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer marketed by Radio Shack during the 1970s and 1980s. Produced in Japan, this popular consumer audio utility was designed for blending multiple analog inputs down into a single stereo output.

    Key Technical Specifications
Input Configuration: Supports up to 4 microphone inputs simultaneously.
Phono Capabilities: Features a built-in stereo phono input option, allowing you to connect a turntable and seamlessly blend background music with microphone feeds.
Frequency Response: 20 to 20,000 Hz (-/+ 3db), covering the standard range of human hearing.
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N): 50 db                                                                            Impedance: Switchable or dual configuration supporting both High and Low impedance (Hi/Low) microphones.

    Notable Controls & Operation
Independent & Master Volume: Each individual microphone channel has its own dedicated level control knob, feeding into a single Master control knob to adjust overall output volume levels.
Stereo-Mono Toggle: Includes a dedicated mode switch. When set to mono, it bridges inputs across channels for a single combined signal. When set to stereo, it splits up to two inputs per side (Left/Right) for a wider sound stage.
Power Source: Fully portable design operating entirely on eight "AA" batteries.

Catalog error: the 1974-75 catalogs lists four "AA" batteries. The battery holder is a 2 x 4 arrangement, where there are 4 "AA"s stacked on top of 4 "AA"s. With the battery cover removed, it appears that only 4 batteries are visible but there are eight.
