• Sears model 6120 covers the broadcast band to 1730 kHz and a single shortwave band from 6 to 18 MHz.  The B+ power supply uses voltage doubling and is therefore AC only. The highest B+ voltage on the 6U5 plate is 215 VDC as shown on the schematic.  The speaker is a field coil type that doubles as a DC choke.  The push-buttons move the variable capacitor by mechanical action and can each be fixed for any point in the travel of the variable capacitor, either broadcast or shortwave.  Note that with voltage doubling, the chassis is a shock hazard relative to any grounded object in either position of the power plug.
