  • The Sears Catalog (57A....) 1925 shows on page 10 the 3 Tube Multidyne Receiving Set as order number 57A2670 1/4 with standard base sockets, not including tubes, batteries, loud speaker or aerial equipment for $ 48.50. 57A2673 1/4 are the accessories only for dry battery operation with either three WD12 or C12 tubes, four 22.5-volt or two 45-volt "B" batteries, one 4.5 volt "C" battery, three 1.5-volt dry cells, horn loudspeaker 12 inches wide, plug, ground and aerial equipment for $ 26.50 or 57A2674 1/4 are accessories for wet cell or staorage battery operation with one 6-volt storage battery (no "C" battery used) and 3 x UV201A or C301A tubes etc. for $ 35.95.

    The incoming signal is amplified by means of tuned radio frequency. The signal is then passed on to the detector tube, where it is further amplified by means of regeneration. From the detector tube by use of reflex connections, the first tube is again brouht into use as an audio frequency amplifier, the thrid tube builds up the signal still further as a regular stage of audio frequency amplification.
