  • Notes
  • The Sears Silvertone 7068 is a battery operated 6 tube BC band car radio. Uses vibrator to generate the B+ voltage.

See details and summaries about Sears catalogs. This model was manufactured for Sears by Sentinel Radio Corp., Chicago,IL (Sears Manufacturer Source Number Code 106).

Station tuning is performed from the control unit mounted on the steering column of the vehicle.

The connection between the control unit and the radio is made via cable for the volume and  power switches, and via a Bowden cable for station tuning.

The variable capacitor is preloaded with a spring so that only one Bowden cable is required.

The power supply unit (enclosed in a sheet metal box) includes a rectifier tube, transformer, vibrator, and a relay.  The unit is inserted into the bottom of the radio housing.
