  • The Sony DVP‑NS38 is a single‑disc DVD‑Video player introduced in 2007 and sold internationally in black (NS38) and silver (NS38/SR) finishes. It supports DVD‑Video, Video CD, Super VCD, audio CD, MP3, JPEG, and recordable DVD formats including DVD‑R/RW and DVD+R/RW. The unit uses Sony’s Precision Drive 3 mechanism with a twin‑laser pickup for improved reading of worn or marginal discs. Video output is processed through a 12‑bit/108 MHz DAC, with PAL/NTSC output selection. Audio is handled by a 192 kHz/16‑bit DAC with coaxial digital output supporting PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS pass‑through.

    Connectivity includes a SCART (Euro‑AV) output providing composite video and stereo audio, plus a coaxial digital audio output. Features include ShowView‑style on‑screen navigation, Custom Picture Mode, Smooth Slow, Instant Search/Replay, and parental control for up to 40 discs. Supplied remote control: RMT‑D175P. Power consumption is 8 W.
