  • The SONY Walkman DD Quartz WM-DD22 (DD stands for Direct Drive) is very robust but needs also more energy than the later and cheaper models. Please do not upload pictures from the similar Sony DD2 Quartz or the DD33, the last with this case. Disc Drive Capstan Servo, AVLS, Anti Rolling Mechanism, Dolby on/off, Tape Normal/Metal, Battery indicator.

In den Bemerkungen zum Modell steht, DD stehe für Direct Drive.

Auf der Frontseite des Walkman liest man:

QUARZ LOCKED DISC DRIVE

Bei old-fidelity-forum.de findet sich zum Modell Sony, WM-DD9 (auf RM.org nicht angelegt) folgende Bemerkung:

"Wer meint, dass Walkman DD für Direct Drive stehen würde, irrt. DD steht in diesem Fall für Disc Drive. Die Motoren treiben Messingscheiben mit den Capstanwellen an, von diesen weg gehen jedoch zwei Riemen zu den Zahnrädern.

Da mein WM-DD22 im Gegensatz zum WM-DD9 nicht über autorevers verfügt, hat er nur einen Riemen.
