The "RS" (reduced size) slide-in cassette recorder mechanism was introduced at the 1974 Japan Electronics show.
The mechanism is a development of the "MP" cassette slide-in player of the previous year, and features recording and fast rewind capabilities. The unit is also equipped with the Staar electronic stop system, ejecting the cassette when the end of the tape is reached or the device is switched off.
It meets DIN 75700 standards.
