  • The Burgoyne Custom-Built Radiogram Chassis RG1 is a deluxe 8-valve superheterodyne receiver and audio amplifier assembly, designed to provide high-quality reproduction from both radio broadcasts and gramophone records.

    Radio Section

    • Type: Superheterodyne radio receiver, 8‑valve design.
    • Wavebands:
      • 16 – 50 metres: Shortwave (6–18.7 MHz approx).
      • 190 – 550 metres: Medium wave (545–1578 kHz approx).
      • 1,000 – 2,000 metres: Long wave (150–300 kHz approx).
    • Tuning mechanism: Precision flywheel tuning for smooth operation.
    • Scale: Extra-large, multi‑colour, fully illuminated glass tuning dial, approx. 16 in × 6½ in.
    • Tuning indicator: “Magic Eye” cathode-ray tuning indicator for peak signal alignment.

    Audio & Controls

    • Tone controls: Independent bass and treble “cut and lift” controls, active on both radio and gramophone functions.
    • Output transformer: Provides matching for 3 Ω or 15 Ω loudspeaker loads (speech coil impedance).
    • Amplifier stage: Push‑pull output using two Mazda 6P25 valves.
