  • The Editor Tape Recorder was a portable tube-based recorder, released between 1954 and 1957, and designed primarily for mono half-track recording and playback.

    Technical Overview

    • Recording Tracks: Half-track mono, with dual permalloy heads for record/playback
    • Reel & Speed: Accepts up to 7" reels and runs at 7½ inches per second (ips), driven by three shaded-pole Collaro motors (two spooling, one capstan)
    • Equalization: IEC standard
    • Features: No auto-reverse

    This is the earliest product from Tape Recorders (Electronics) Ltd. The three motor tape transport components are mounted on a Formica-covered particle board, which gives it a kitchen appliance look.
