  • Remarques
  • Vectron Laboratories produced a wide range of Voltage-Controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXOs) that were designed for Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) applications. The CO-233 series was an early type that used discrete components and is housed in a hermetic metal case for pcb mounting by four 6.32 UNC-2A studs. It has a sinewave output.

Each VCXO was built to customer specifications of the operating frequency and other characteristics, an individual suffix representing the unique design being appended to the CO-233 Part No. The Model CO-233 Y 3129 illustrated, which was used in early versions of CERN's RD12 Timing, Trigger and Control (TTC) systems, had the following specifications:

    Supply voltage 15 V DC ±5%
    Centre frequency 160.32 MHz
(4 times the LHC bunch-crossing frequency)
VCXO range ±100 ppm of centre frequency
    Control voltage 0 to 6 V
    Transfer function positive
    Linearity ±20% smooth monotonic characteristic
Modulation rate DC to 1 kHz
    Output into 50 Ω load > 0.5 V rms
    Harmonics/subharmonics -35 dBc
    Jitter ≤ 10 ps rms
    Temperature stability ±35 ppm over 0 to 50 ˚C
    Installation drawing A233-213-006A

The later Vectron VCXO models that were employed in production TTC transmitters used integrated microelectronics and were much smaller.
