    Probably TRF.

    Controls:

Power, Direction, Volume and Single tuning control.

The "Direction" control appears to be part of  a variometer (rotates square coil relative to smaller fixed coil with more turns) probably varying coupling to Aerial and Earth (Terminals visiible). Of course with a strong signal the square loop will pick up directly without any external aerial and earth on the fixed coil and direction is then the station direction (or 180 degrees).

At least HT (but no screen taps as all triodes), a tapped dry cell 9V Grid battery  and Lead Acid LT batteries, LT possibly 6V via resistor/rheostat (volume control?) about 1.75A @ 5V on filaments.
