History: |
The primary product for Howard Radio Company, 1731-35 Belmont Avenue, Chicago, Ill. were broadcasting receivers. Howard was also quite well known for it's models for short wave listener, radio amateurs and military. Those models were good looking but never considered as "good". During a W.W.II under a 1942 military contract, Howard manufactured the BC-779 version of the Super Pro SP-200 series for Hammarlund. The Howard Radio Company held a license from RCA and made the electronics for the big Capeharts until Farnsworth bought the company. Howard has also built communication receivers for Sears (Silvertone) and Hallicrafters. They exported, for instance to Switzerland. |
