Name: Westerstrand & Söner, Töreboda    (S)
Abbreviation: westerstr
Products: Model types
Summary:

Westerstrand & Söner, Töreboda, Sweden.

Originally a clock manufacturer that 1958 started manufacturing TV sets (the year when Swedish public TV started). The TV production was closed in 1971. Most likely the RF parts and designs were imported as some other Swedish manufacturers of that time since there was a high import tax on imported TV sets but lower on chassis etc.

Founded: 1906
Closed: 1983
Production: 1958 - 1971
History:
Started by Yngve Westerstrand by manufacturing spare parts for clocks. Later complete clocks were manufactured which included pendulum clocks (first in Sweden), various electric clocks such as centralized clocks. Manufactured also parts for chimes for i.e the cathedrals of Drammen, Norway, and Visby, Sweden and also for the Town hall of Kiruna, Sweden.
Started TV manufacturing 1958 which ended by 1971. The company was closed by bankruptcy in 1983 and the clock manufacturing was reorganized in a mechanical part (Töreboda Ur AB, 1999 a part of Elos AB) and one digital part.

This manufacturer was suggested by Anders Sandgren.
