History:

An advertisement in The Gastonia Gazette from Gastonia, North Carolina, February 21 1955, page 65 reads:

"Pyramid Electric Company, a comparative newcomer to the Gastonia area, is happy to take its place among Gaston's large and progressive industrial family. As manufacturers of top quality electronic capacitors, this company began operations in 1944 in a New Jersey plant. A few years later they expanded to a plant in North Bergen, N. J. In February of 1954 they again expanded by occupying a large plant in Gastonia. The latest expansion includes a large modern plant on the West Coast. A steady increase in production has brought the daily output of the Gastonia plant to 250,000 capacitors per working day, and there are now 350 people on the payrolI. When full production is reached, approximately 400,000 to 500,000 units will be produced daily and there will be about 650 people employed. The television industry has created enormous demand for electronic equipment, since an ordinary TV set contains frorn 50 to 90 capacitors. Pyramid supplies 9 of the top 10 television producers in the nation. The new dry electrolytic capacitors are used in power supply circuits, and one type — the A.C. motor starting capacitors — are used in all types of alternating current and electric motor applications such as refrigerators, air conditioners, oil burners, fluorescent lighting, elevators, and many other applications of heavy industrial electronic equipment."

This manufacturer was suggested by Mark Skala.
