| Description | The Radetski Steamship National Museum in the city of Kozloduyi was established by the Council of Ministers on March 16, 1982.
It includes the steamship Radetski and a picture gallery opened in 1989-1990.
The Radetski, a unique floating museum ship, commemorates these courageous Bulgarian revolutionaries. In 1918, the ship was decommissioned, and in 1924 the Austrian Steamship Company decided to scrap it. In 1925, the ship’s former captain, Dagobert Englender, conveyed to Bulgaria elements of the ship that had been spared: the ship’s pennant, the ship’s seal, the original ship’s license, a copy of the ship’s manifest for its entire complement, a copy of Botev’s letter in French to the captain and passengers, and two planks taken from the deck (one from the place where Botev had stood to order the captain to bring the ship around so that the detachment could disembark). Inspired by these relics and supported by the 1,200,000 Bulgarian children who collected funds for building materials, the Steamship Radetski was reconstructed to honor Botev on the 90th anniversary of his death. The rebuilt ship was launched on May 28, 1966, and on May 30 it docked at Kozloduyi. The new ship is 57 meters long and 17.50 meters wide. The captain’s cabin and crew’s quarters are exact replicas of the original Radetski. In 1966, an exhibition was mounted entirely dedicated to the life and achievements of Hristo Botev and to the fate of his detachment. The exposition is now located in the ship’s first-class salon, and the highlight of the exposition is the desk on which Botev wrote his historic letter. Also preserved are the inkwell and pen holder of the captain who commanded the ship on the night that it landed to discharge the detachment. After the ship was reconstructed, it made a ceremonial voyage to Vienna and Budapest. In 1973, the ship was again renovated. At present the Radetski rests at its own mooring at the Kozloduyi docks. |

Той включва кораба музей „Радецки” и картинната галерия, създадена в периода 1989-1990 г. През 1918 г. „Радецки” е бракуван, а през 1924 г. разрушен от австрийското параходно дружество. През 1925 г. капитанът на кораба, Дагоберт Енглендер, изпраща в България съхранените от него реликви от парахода: флага, печата, оригиналното позволително, копие от доклад, подробно изложение за всичко видяно, копие от писмото на Ботев на френски език до капитана и пътниците, две дъски от борда на „Радецки” (едната - от мястото, където е стоял Ботев, принуждавайки капитана да му повери парахода, за да слезе на българския бряг с четата). С помощта на тези реликви и с подкрепата на 1 200 000 български деца, които събират средствата за построяването му, корабът „Радецки” е възстановен в чест на 90-годишнината от гибелта на Христо Ботев. Възстановеният параход е пуснат на вода на 28 май 1966 г. и на 30 май акостира на Козлодуйския бряг. Новият кораб е дълъг 57.40 м и широк 17.50 м. Кабините на капитана и на екипажа са възстановени по подобие на оригиналния „Радецки”. През 1966 г. е обновена и музейната експозиция. Тя е изцяло ориентирана към живота и делото на Христо Ботев и съдбата на неговата чета. Експозицията и до днес се съхранява в салон първа класа на кораба, а нейната пикова част е изнесена на масата, където Ботев пише своето велико писмо. Там се съхраняват още мастилницата и перодръжката на капитана, управлявал кораба в нощта на неговото завземане от четниците. След построяването му корабът прави тържествен рейс и посещение във Виена и Будапеща. През 1973 г. корабът е основно ремонтиран. В момента корабът се намира в специално изградено за него място на Козлодуйския бряг. |
