By car, take the I-10 Freeway toward Pomona and exit on Fairplex Drive. Turn north on Fairplex Drive, go over the hill, and turn right on McKinley Avenue. After going down the hill, turn left into a parking lot marked as Gate #1.
Getting to the historic train display areaEnter the Fairgrounds at Gate 1, which has a guard station towards the left. Tell the security guard you are going to the historic train exhibit and they should be able to direct you to our exhibit
Getting to County Fair via Metrolink TrainsWhen the County Fair is open, Metrolink stops many trains at the Fairgrounds. Please check their web site for details.
|Description|| RailGiants Train Museum Hours:
RailGiants Train Museum is open on the second full weekend of each month, from approximately 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. RailGiants is located on the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona. During open days at RailGiants, visitors can walk around all locomotives and railcars and buy train souvenirs in our Depot Gift Shop. By walking up stairways into each giant locomotive, you can see into the cabs where engineers and firemen operated these large engines down the tracks of the nation’s rail network. Visitors are welcome to join us while maintenance and rehabilitation work is in-progress and ask our volunteer museum staff members any questions.
Admission to RailGiants Train Museum is always free. During the Los Angeles County Fair event, RailGiants is part of The County Fair and there is no additional cost to enter RailGiants after purchasing an admission ticket to The County Fair. Any donation to help maintain our equipment is optional, but always welcome. The excellent conditional of our historic railroad equipment is achieved by the generous donations of past visitors and the help of our volunteer members.
Please note: when the scheduled Sunday falls on Mother's Day or Easter, the museum will be closed on that Sunday. Check the Event Schedule page on our website for the most up to date schedule.
Los Angeles County Fair
The County Fair is held for 24 days, starting Labor Day weekend: last Friday in August thru the month of September. During the fair, RailGiants Train Museum is part of the County Fair and is open on every day of the fair. However, entry to RailGiants requires purchasing admission to the Fair.
The collection is headlined by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway train station moved from Arcadia, California in 1969. The 1887-built station is of gingerbread Victorian architecture and features a collection of railroadiana.
The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter's Rail Giants Exhibit at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona, is a historical journey back to the glory days of the American Railroad.
Our Museum houses some of the countries most well preserved Locomotives and Rolling Stock along with our Historic Depot Gift Shop and our Library Archive

The Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Southern California Chapter, operator of RailGiants Train Museum, has been contacted by Union Pacific with a proposal to acquire and restore the Big Boy locomotive #4014 to full operational status. Union Pacific wants to operate this locomotive as part of their historic Steam Locomotive Program.
