Below you find a part of the radio collection Gary Bramer - including other related items.

I began my commercial radio repair vocation in the 1970's working for a Motorola Service Station that, here in the US, provided radio service to Public Safety and Business Communications Systems. I also acquired my first Amateur Radio license during this time and now hold the General Class call sign of K6WKX where I now enjoy the building and operating of Radio Propagation Beacons on 10 Meters and above. Prior to recently, I had allowed my original ham radio 'hobby' license expire as my work in commercial radio occupied the majority of my time. I am now the Supervising Radio Communications Technician for Santa Cruz County in California, USA. Although my career began when solid state devices were common and tube devices were waning, except for high power RF, I have become interested in the older broadcast and commercial radios that remind me of my years as a youngster. I tend to collect Motorola, General Electric and RCA vintage broadcast radios because these manufacturers, amoung others, were the pioneers of two-way radio for amateur and police services. I have found the tube sets to have uncompromised audio quality through the use of their components as well as the craftsmanship of their construction. As I have now aged over the years (imagine that!) and have a small crew of technicians working under my wings, I find that the hobby of radio has overcome the madness of commercial and public safety radio maintenance. The job and the hobby have come back together again and I am enjoying both!
