I just started collecting and restoring tube radios last year. I have a Philco 610b I am currently working on. I just bought a Radiola 60 for my next project and I am starting to focus more on the 1920's radios that I really like. The first radio I restored, and still have, is a 1950's RCA 9X 561. I got started reading Richard McWhorter's book, "The All-American Five Radio: Understanding and Restoring Transformerless Radios of the 1940'S, 50'S, and 60's" and restored the same radio model he used in the book to learn from. I just purchased a 1920's NRI radio course on CD that I am starting to go through. I also have a National NC109 that I plan to restore. I bought the NC109 because I am an amateur radio operator and have a Yaesu FT450 as my regular radio for the HF bands. But my love for collecting and restoring old radios has become my main hobby now and I am not that active in HAM radio anymore. Believe it or not I am also learning a lot by watching YouTube videos of radio restorations! My favorite Youtube channels being "joernone" and "bendersentv". I am always on the look out for rare radios in my area and hope to contribute some knowledge to the radiomuseum data base in the future. I live near Albany N.Y. where the "raven" radio company made radios in the 1920's that are quite rare now, I hope to find one to restore someday.
