Ureco Manufacturing Co, 418 Central Ave., Newark, New Jersey was a subsidiary of United Radio and Electric Co. which was incorporated in 1922 under the address 61 6th Ave., Brooklyn, New York. Tyne p.364 mentions 1924 as founding date. United Radio an Electric Co advertised "Receiving Sets and accessories complete: parts for building your own, repairing and rewiring of all types of apparatus" in the Brookly Daily Eagle 1922. RCA sued the company under the de Forest patents and a final decree was issued on May 6th, 1925. Details of this are unknown but the company was shown as being licensed by RCA in the "Broad Street Gossip" column of the April 8th 1930 issue of the Wall Street Journal. The company made at least the UV and UX 201A tubes. Tubes also made with the brand name Goldentone - mentioned in Tyne's "Saga of the Vacuum Tube" pages 356 and 364 |
