Subsidiary of the American Magnavox Co., marketing a range of radiograms, record players and tape recorders.

There are a number of Magnavox speakers built by Benjamin Electric (first under license, then with patent rights).

History:

Magnavox Electronics, Ltd. was organzied in 1935 as a wholly owned subsidiary to develop a market for Magnavox products in the United Kingdom and eventually in other European markets.

In the latter part of 1936, Magnavox Co. disposed of their stock in Magnavox (Great Britain) Ltd., realizing a loss of $1,000 of the original investment, for reasons of unfavorable developements in the patent situation. The company was formally wound up in 1937, and the patents acquired by The Benjamin Electric Ltd.

Merged with Collaro to form Magnavox Electronics Co. in 1962.
