The Maas-Rowe carillon amplifiers were made by Maas Organ Co of Los Angeles, California. They were very high quality. The Model 500 was made for churches, where the carillon tubular chimes were within the church building and the amplifier was used to drive large horn speakers at the top of the church tower. The amp also controls the carillon performance. The chimes had microphone pickups, one for each chime tube, which drove the input to the amp. There were several other amplifiers. The simpler Model 50 was used to amplify the chimes within the church building.
