Musicpet of California (also spelled Music Pet) Brand: Universal Exclusive US importer-distributor of Japanese audio equipment (car audio and portable radios). Founded end of 1965 / beginning of 1966 by Murray Epstein (president, former sewing machine representative) and Jerry Moss (former radio-TV-electronics repairman). The company's name is derived from the first product that Epstein sold: a radio housed in a toy animal. Musicpet sold its Universal car stereo line to auto outlets like Lucky Auto and Western Auto, in addition to independent accessory stores and the White Front discount chain. |
