History: |
William Shepard Costley manufactured S.T.R. radios starting in his residence in Mt Lawley in 1933 and moved to larger premises in Forrest Place in 1934. [1] S.T.R. stood for “Scientifically Tuned Radio” [2] and he manufactured TRF’s and superhets from 3 valves to 10 valve receivers. [3] At the 1934 Trade show they advertised for clients to come to the exhibition and see radios being manufactured.[5] In 1937 he shifted to repairs rather than manufacturing and was still advertising in 1950.
