Metcom is an acronym for Microwave Electronic Tube Co. of Massachusetts. In 1962 Metcom was mentioned in, High-Power Microwave Tube Symposium co-sponsored by the U.S. Signal Research & Devlopment Laboratory. and in 1963 Mr. Richard J. Broderick was President.
In 1966 due to order-backlogs the Company made an acquisition of property across the street which added an additional 15,000 sq.ft. of manufacuring space for a total fo 96,000 sq.ft.
In a catalog without a date, circa early 1970's, shows 115,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing space. In addition to what is shown in the catalog they also have High and Low Power Testing Facilities, Brazing Facilities and High Vacuum Exhaust Facilities.
The catalog shows a very extensive line of tubes and associated equipment. A brief summary includes; Magnetrons, Klystrons, Tetrodes, External Cavity TR tubes, Gas Switching Duplexer Tubes, Duplexers and Microwave Cavities.
