The Name appears in "Radio Collectors Guide1921-19322 and in Grinder/Fathauer:"Radio Collector's Directory and Price Guide" and in Rider's Perpetual vol.1 and vol.3. Columbia Radio Co. is listed in the list of US broadcast stations, licensed as of May 15th 1922 (Source: "WWJ - The Detroit News", 1922) All these stations shared 833 kHz, the only frequency that was approved for broadcast in 1922. The Station was: WMC Youngstown, O.
We found a notice about two ARC-5 transmitters: BC-458A for 5.3 to 7.0 MHz and another one supposed to be manufactured by a "Columbia Radio Co.". We are not sure about any connection to this company. ARC-5 transmitters are command sets used by the US Navy from the latter part of WW2 into the post-war era. |
