Founded: 1930
History:
OKAPHONE RADIO was founded in 1930 by Oscar Keip and Mr. Branbergen. They have probably made radios before under their own name. The (dutch pronounced) initials of Oscar Keip are stil recognizable within the then brand- but currently company name of O-KA-PHONE. Initial activities were mainly building radio's based on finished chassis.

Soon however a car was bought. Which was turned into a public addres medium, with the available electronics know how.

This car was then used on festivals and meetings. A move to movies with sound would follow shortly. And public events where used to demonstrate these new possibilities.

During the sixties the building in the Ebbingestraat was modified to make it more suitable for selling components and repairing radio's and amplifiers. Within the then expanding market for electronic appliances OKAPHONE RADIO was clearly a technological leader.

More recently in 1987 the companies name was changed to OKAPHONE ELEKTRONIKA to better reflect the current activities.

The website is online since 1998 and in 2005 OKAPHONE celebrated the 75th year of existence. [Hans Marks]
