History: |
Burstein-Applebee Co.; Kansas City (MO)
The "CALRAD" brand was NOT a Burstein-Applebee brand, rather they sold lots of the stuff, which was a brand out of California, which marketed microphones, power-supplies, meters, small amplifiers, and a HUGE amount of other products -CALRAD = California Radio. At the end of the company's history, Burstein-Applebee Co. was located at 3199 Mercier St, Kansas City, MO 64111 - the old building at 1012-1014 McGee St, having been vacated some years before. Most of the information we received from Tom Dailey, W0EAJ, a former member of the company who in 1977 received a promotion and transfer to DENVER, COLORADO, to assume the position of "Denver Regional Service Manager". He told us also: "I was involved with the Pro-Industrial Division of the company, specializing in professional Video and Audio, as well as commercial 2-way radio. Everything from a small surveillance system, all the way up to full-spread color video studios were our speciality." |
