Name: Polytechnic Research & Development Co, Inc. (PRD); Brooklyn, NY    (USA)
Abbreviation: polytechni
Products: Model types Others
Summary:

PRD, Polytechnic Research & Development Company, Inc., was one of the leader manufacturers of microwave components, as waveguide attenuators, and instrumentation, generators and spectrum analyzers. In 1959 it was sold to Harris Intertype Corporation.

Founded: 1944
History:

PRD was founded in 1944 by Polytechnic of Brooklyn to start a mass production of 10000 RF attenuators, after a laboratory sample had been approved for military applications. The staff was directed by Dr. Ernst Weber, born in Vienna, Austria, on September 6, 1901. Dr. Weber had worked at Siemens-Schuckert Company, first in Vienna and later in Berlin.

Moved in 1930 at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, in World War II, Dr. Weber organized a microwave research group and, after the first said production order, directed the activities of PRD. Under his guide, PRD played a dynamic role in manufacturing microwave components and equipment inspired to the research of Polytechnic.

This manufacturer was suggested by Emilio Ciardiello.
