blaupunkt: 4W649H;

Hallo,

I have recently found a Blaupunkt model 4W649 (M). I see no such number in the listings and the dial shows UKW in the modern band. The tube lineup is the same as the 4W649 HM with an EM11 for the eye. I also see a connection board for UKW on the similar models. Would someone please clarify as to how the FM is added so that the dial would be used. Also is this model somehow previously unlisted? The radio is in the cleaning phase presently and I have not yet compared to the other schematics.

Hello please put a photo of the interior, detail of head and FM tuner and the IF cans.

Apparently there is FM tuner head and FI are not FM settings

Thanks for your reply. Additional photos of the tuner, IF and underside attached. A closer look reveals an AM only radio which closely matches the others in the 4W649 series.. Some adapter must have been available.

The images reveal that it is only AM radio.
Add the FM means:
Change switch waves
change FI
Add head tuner.

You can place an FM transistor, the audio signal is connected to the input amplifier phono input or BF. I've done in an apparatus at the request of the owner, the tune that i found adapting the original with the Tandem transistor device, placing a pulley the same diameter to accommodate the turn.

It's just an idea and looks good, is not the best but cheap, I call "bricolage".

For the "bricolage" suggestion. It is a good one and always a possibility. However, as the radio back cover says," UKW moglichkeit" from Blaupunkt, I will see if it is possible to find information on this factory option.

Hello Mr Liers,

Your set with aditional magic eye tube is a different model and you can upload all your information as new model.

After the 4W649 HM was created you can ask about the schematics and aditional help.

Your model was designed "ready to receive the UKW tuner" as many models from the begining of the 50s.
