Emerson radio in jewel box
Emerson radio in jewel box
Hello, who can identify this Emerson radio, built in a wooden jewel box?
Tube line-up is 3S4 - 1R5 - 1S5 - 1T4.
The box lid contains a loop antenna.
Unfortunately, the bottom cover of the box is missing.
The chassis seems quite identical to Emerson Model 508.
Thank You

Collector's To Antique Radios- 6th edition

You can see one photo in Pag. 86 of Collector's To Antique Radios- 6th edition.
And the folowing text:
Table, jewelry box style ornate case, opening hinged lid turns radio on, feet, 2 thumbwheel knobs, BC, 4 tubes, battery.
This is not much but I hope it can help you.

Emerson 455

This is definitely the model 455, as found in
- Slusser: Collectors Guide...5th and 7th edition, both with picture, and
- Machine Age to Jet Age II, also with picture and marked as Ingraham cabinet.
not in Riders Perrpetual and not in Beitmans.

Thank you Gentlemen, for helping me to identify this set.
I will upload it now.
By the way, what does Ingraham mean?
Best regards

Ingraham: same as clock maker?

I've always assumed that the Ingraham company that made radio cabinets is the same as the Ingraham company that made clocks (many of which had wooden cases). Can anyone confirm whether this is correct or not?

Thanks, Roy. That would seem to confirm what I've heard before.
