Dear Sir,

Some photos displayed under this radio contain 4 tubes and other photos contain 6 tubes. I wonder if there is some mix-up in the model!

Thanks

Ali

Hello Ali,

The 5th tube (magic eye) is not visible on the images usually. The model is prepared for FM reception, so some chassis have the FM decoder UK83W built in which adds another 3 tubes for 8 in total.

This information has been corrected, see model page.

Kind regards
Mark

Dear Mr. Al-Hakim,

the device has 5 tubes with the magic eye. (ECH42, EAF42, EAF42, EL41, EM4).

The pictures with the 7 tubes show the equipment with the FM tuner UK81W. The device was also prepared for this tuner.

For the model, the FM tuner UK83W is incorrectly stated in the comments.
This would mechanically not fit into the device.

Regards WB.

Mark and Wolfgang

Thanks for the quick response and clarification. I did not know that Graetz Super 153 has two different configurations; one with FM decoder and one without! Mine has the FM decoder device with two additional tubes sitting on the top.

Regards

Ali

Hi Ali,

That's the meaning of the waveband information:

Wave bands Ready for FM, has Broadcast, Long Wave, Short wave.

means a model is prepared for FM (i.e. ready to have an FM tuner fitted, a dial scale that includes an FM range, a waveband selector position/switch that allows switching to FM, in any combination).

This as opposed to a "regular" model with FM incorporated where it looks like this:

Wave bands Broadcast, Long Wave, Short Wave plus FM or UHF.

Regards
Mark

Thank you mark for the additional information..I wonder if this process (waveband ready to be fitted for FM) is available on other german tube radios or just for this Graetz model only.

Best regards

Ali

Dear Mr. Al-Hakim,

The purpose of this preparation was that FM was already planned at the time, but the buyer could not yet receive anything. This is how the devices were made for later upgrading. Of course, price also played a role.

When you enter in "Fully detailed model search" at "Wave bands": "Ready for FM, has Broadcast, Long Wave, Short wave", you will find 265 models.

Best regards WB.
