Scan and upload each page separately.

If the scanner has a "black & White" Photo mode use that to scan.
Scan at 300dpi (or 600 DPI for smaller fine sized schematics)

If there is a "preview" option on the scanner software (activated from within Irfanview), use it to just scan the printed part of page, not the whole scanner "bed" or page to the edge.

Resize the image if required to under 5000 x 5000 pixels.
When the image is adjusted reduce the "bits" to  1 (Black & White). For older documents with too much shading or with important colour sometimes using 4bits (16 shades) is better.

Save as "png" type image.
