Hello,

We have one of these radios here for an overhaul, and we are having problems realigning AM as there are differences between the set and the schematics on the model page, in particular the positions of the coils etc. which need to be adjusted during RF alignment.  We have not as yet for instance identified its aerial trimmers. LW works well, MW lacks gain but is slightly unstable, but SW is very unstable. The IF has been successfully realigned, all tubular capacitors and worn out electrolytic capacitors have been replaced and its valves are all good.  FM however works very well. The set arrived without its own service sheet and it is a model unknown in the UK and was purchased in Germany recently.

Does anyone have a more detailed service manual for this model please ?

Hello again,

To illustrate the problem above, here is a pic of the underside of the switch assembly in the Metz 209/3D WF here .....

The coils are laid out differently to the service manual, and different to those in the set already on the model page, as below ...

Hopefully someone will have the service manual for this alternative switch and coil layout ?

Regards ........ Howard

We have sorted out this Metz 209, a MW trimmer capacitor had failed causing poor gain and a capacitor had been incorrectly replaced causing the instability.

Hello Howard

In 2009 i had a Metz radio here for repair. According the back cover a 209/3D WF.

Have a look at the coils in that radio:

The label on the chassis states, that it's a 209 WF / 142:

So, now we have three different layouts / variants.

Can't help with an other schematic, altough i have too another than the one uploaded. But it shows the same alignment points/coils..

Kind regards, Walter
