Please could somebody advise the correct location for the disconnected end of  this spring on the Grundig/Philips 1025 deck?

Many thanks - I have now solved the mystery! 

I am, however, still looking for a replacement for the missing  centre spindle for this deck and would be grateful if anyone can help me locate either an autochanger spindle or even a single play spindle...
