I have Philips radio 594, receives Fm , but no AM, have checked around ECH81 all voltages okay, capitors seem okay, checked switch all appears okay. any memeber had the same problem ot got some answers?

Hello,possibly the non - function of the AM - ranges is due to tube EBF 89 or its surroundings. I can imagine that it is the demodulation diode ( pin 7 ) that doesn`t work well anymore or that the whole tube has become bad.So, first of all, I would replace that tube by one that works very well.
